Create 2 identical layers with the same layer styles. 2. Select both layers in your layer palette 3. Press on CTRL+E ( or cmd+E ) 4. Add any filter you want on point 3. you will merge both layers into a single one. In this way you preserve the layer styles, and you can add the filter you like.
